Tom Nohilly ’84

Track

Tom came to McClancy in 1980 from St. Fidelis Parish in College Point. He ran for McClancy for four years in cross-country, and indoor and outdoor track.

During his years at McClancy, Tom was the C.H.S.A.A. City Champion in the steeplechase and earned All-American honors in that same event. He holds McClancy records in the 1 mile and 2 mile both indoors and outdoors; the 3 mile run; 5,000 meter, distance medley relay; steeplechase; and all the cross-country records.

Tom received a full scholarship to the University of Florida. While there, he held the school record in the steeplechase; was the Southeast Conference champion in the mile and steeple; and was the N.C.A.A. champion in the steeplechase.

He qualified for the Olympic trials in 1989 and was the 4th place (first alternate) qualifier in the 1992 and 1996 trials. He is currently listed as the 5th fastest American to run the 3,000 meter steeplechase with a time of 8:16.2.
