Welcome to the School that Makes a Difference!

Monsignor McClancy Memorial High School is a Catholic High School located in the East Elmhurst neighborhood of Queens, New York. Founded by the Brothers of the Sacred Heart in 1956, Msgr. McClancy Memorial High School continues a tradition of educational excellence and holistic formation within a caring and a supportive faith community.

We believe that a student learns through his experience of the total school environment. As a result of this belief, we begin with the formation of a school community where, through diverse academic, co-curricular, faith development and service experiences, the whole child can be formed.

Our History

Msgr. McClancy Memorial High School is a private, Catholic, secondary school owned and operated by the Brothers of the Sacred Heart of the New York Province since its opening in 1956.

One of many schools staffed by the Brothers of the Sacred Heart and dedicated priest, sisters and lay people throughout the world, Msgr. McClancy High School is located in the East Elmhurst – Jackson Heights area of Queens, New York. We have served boys from the dioceses of Brooklyn, Rockville Center, and the Archdiocese of New York for the past 40+ years. In September of 2012, we welcomed girls to join the school and became a co-educational high school.

A New York State Certified School, Msgr. McClancy High School is also a member of the Middle States Association of Secondary Schools.

Historically, the school honors the memory of Msgr. Joseph V. McClancy, a long time diocesan Superintendent of Schools for the Diocese of Brooklyn. In 1956, at the request of the Diocesan bishop, Archbishop Thomas E. Molloy, the new school was opened as Msgr. McClancy Memorial High School in honor of this priestly, energetic, scholarly man who contributed so much to Catholic Education.

The Charism of the Brothers

The mission of Msgr. McClancy is based on the Charism received through Father Andre Coindre, founder of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart in Lyon, France in 1821.

Charism is a special gift of the Holy Spirit given to the Church through special people to help its members fulfill the special needs of the people of God.

The charism of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart directs the Brothers, other religious and lay collaborators in the apostolate of Christian education of young people. It is a charism founded on the love of young people, a respect for their potential, and their need to be educated to live in the world of today. By challenging them to develop values, which are fully human and wholly Christian, we provide them with an education which will develop them personally and professionally. The faculty and staff of McClancy prepare our young people to meet the challenges of life in today’s world.
