Basketball
Tom was raised in Astoria and attended St. Jospeh’s Grammar School. It is here where Tom began playing organized basketball. He followed in his brother John’s (Class of 1975) footsteps and chose to attend McClancy H.S. Here, he quickly established himself as a leader of McClancy’s basketball team, serving as captain and being named the team’s Most Valuable Player. During his time at MCClancy, he received several awards including the Daily News All-City, New York Post All City, and the CHSAA All-Division. Tom was also honored by being selected to play in the Senior Classsic and the Wheelchair Classic in his final year.
Tom selected Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut to continue his education. Trinity College enjoyed its most succesful four-year record in its history. He was honored as co-captain and Co-MVP his senior year. After graduating from Trinity, he played of the Swindon Rakers in the English National League.
Tom currently resides in North Carolina with Elda, his wife. He is involved in financial planning for MetLife Financial Services.
