Steven Casella ’81

Steve grew up in Woodside, Queens and went to St. Mary’s Winfield Grammar School where he played baseball and basketball. He attended McClancy from 1977–1981 and was a member of the Freshman, Junior Varsity and Varsity basketball teams.

Following graduation, Steve attended St. John’s University and graduated with a B.S. in Finance. He began his career at J.P. Morgan in International Banking and, while there, attended graduate school at St. John’s University School of Business receiving his M.B.A. in International Finance. In 1990, Steve was promoted to Vice President and invited to attend the prestigious J.P. Morgan Global Markets Finance Program. Upon completion of the program, he was then offered a position on their Equity Trading Desk.

In 1996, Steve joined Donaldson, Lufkin Jenrette to begin an investment management business. In 2004, he joined Dominick & Dominick as a Managing Director, and also was a Senior Portfolio Manager for a registered investment advisory firm.

In 2006, Steve joined Bank of America’s Private Bank as a Managing Director, and was asked to build a team to advise ultra high net worth families. Today, he leads one of the largest relationship management teams in the Private Bank. He is a strategic advisor to some of the firm’s wealthiest families and his clients include private business owners, real estate families, professional sports team owners and Hedge Fund and Private Equity principals. In addition, he works extensively with some of the firm’s most sophisticated family offices.

Steve has been a mentor to the St. John’s Business School graduates for over 30 years. Recently he joined the board of The Cor Jesu Foundation Inc. and considers it an honor to work with the foundation board and give back to the school that has meant so much to him.

Steve and his wife Linda reside in Northern New Jersey where they raised their two children, Jillian and Steven. In his free time, Steve enjoys spending time with his family, especially his grandson Landon. He also enjoys playing golf, pickleball and the piano.
