Steve Carrara ’80

Field Events

Steve graduated from Msgr. McClancy in 1980. During his senior year, he was undefeated in the shot put during the indoor season and was selected by the New York State Sports Writers Association as “State Indoor Field Athlete of the Year”. He was the C.H.S.A.A. indoor and outdoor city champion in the shot put. Steve also placed in the top three in the discus in the city championships, and qualified for the National Championship. He still holds the shot put record at McClancy 60′ 2″ set in 1980.

After graduating from McClancy,Stevee attended Columbia University, majoring in Economics. He was team captain in both his junior and senior years, and was selected to the All-Ivy League Team in the shot put and the 35 lb. weight throw.

Steve received a law degree from the Washington College of Law at American University in Washington D.C. in 1987. Presently, he is working as a government contracts attorney in the office of General Counsel, United States Department of Commerce.
