Mike Soto ’93

Baseball

Born in Brooklyn and raised in Queens, Mike has been playing organized baseball since he was seven years old. He attended elementary school and junior high at P.S. 49 and I.S. 119 respectively. At McClancy, Mike had “the four greatest years of my baseball career”.

To his mom, Mike was a baseball hero. He pitched in three City Championship games in Yankee Stadium and was a three-time All-City selection, undefeated in three years as a varsity pitcher (20-0). He was 6-0 with 4 saves during his varsity playoff run. Mike was a member of McClancy’s two City Championship squads. One of Mike’s regular season highlights was a 6 2/3 inning perfect game against Nazareth High School in 1992.

Presently, Mike works for the Queens Surface Corporation. Someday, he hopes to become more involved in teaching baseball so that he can give back what baseball has given to him.
