Mark Arning grew up in nearby Astoria and attended Saint Joseph’s Grammar School, followed by Monsignor McClancy High School, graduating in 1974. He then attended CW Post College (now LIU Post) and graduated in 1978 with a B.S. Degree in Accounting. While working, Mark attended graduate school in the evening and obtained an M.S. Degree in Management Information Systems from Saint John’s University. He was also awarded designations as a Certified Internal Auditor and a Certified Information Systems Auditor.
Currently retired following a 36-year career in internal audit, Mark’s career was primarily with the New York Life Insurance Company where he rose from an entry level internal audit position to that of Senior Vice President & General Auditor. Reporting to the Company’s Board, Mark oversaw the Corporate Audit Department composed of a team of over 50 professional auditors engaged in reviewing Company operations throughout the United States, as well as Asia, India, and Mexico. During his career, he served in several volunteer positions within professional organizations, most notably, President of the NY Chapter of the Information Systems Audit & Control Association.
Mark considers himself privileged to be a Board Member of the Cor Jesu Foundation, assisting it to fulfill its mission of providing financial support while perpetuating the charism, life, and mission of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart.
Mark and his wife Kathy live in Rockville Centre on Long Island where they raised their sons, Andrew, Steven, and Ryan, also products of the Catholic education system. They are proud grandparents of two beautiful boys. Mark enjoys time with his family, boating, woodworking, photography, and travel. He also enjoys volunteering as a crew member for SPLASH, a local bay and marsh environmental clean-up association.
