Basketball
Leroy was voted M.V.P. of the McClancy basketball team that went to the city finals in his senior year, 1971, the same year he was named to the All-City team. He received a full four-year scholarship to Tufts University where he became the 7th leading scorer in that school’s history.
Leroy earned his Masters degree from Baruch College in 1979, and immediately entered the health care profession. He was a hospital planner and management consultant in Houston and Nashville before moving to Washington, D.C. where he has been associated with the George Washington University Medical Center for almost twenty years.
Leroy Charles has also been active as Chairman of the Board of the D.C./Pro-Am Summer Classic, a high school basketball tournament; the coordinator of a volunteer community service program; and as a teacher of Administration of Health Systems.
