Kyle Brown ’92

Track

Born in 1975, Kyle Brown was raised in East Elmhurst where he attended St. Gabriel Elementary School. His graduation in 1988 marked the beginning of his journey at Monsignor McClancy. It was during his freshman year that he joined the Track and Field Team. Under the tutelage of Glen Devoti and James Carey, he discovered and developed his ability to be a leader and learned that hard work along with dedication is the best formula for success.

By the end of his four years as a Crusader, Kyle set many school records including two which still stand today. His jump of 48’ 2 ¾” in the triple jump and 22’ 9 ¾” in the long jump make him the furthest horizontal jumper in the school’s history, breaking records set before he was born. Kyle continued his track career at Long Island University where he set school and conference records in the triple jump.

Today, Kyle teaches seventh grade at St. Gabriel’s and coaches track at St. Francis College. At both places, he tries to share the lessons taught to him by his coaches so many years ago. This past August, Kyle married his beautiful wife Clair and plans to apply the formula he used for success in sports to having success in marriage.
