Joseph Brancaccio ’79

Field Events

Joseph Brancaccio came to McClancy from St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Astoria. In his freshman year, Joe joined the Feld Events team and chose the Shot Put as his specialty event. By the end of his freshman year, he set the New York Stazte record in the 8 lb.  shot put, a record which still stands today. In his sophomore year, Joe won the Brooklyn-Queens Championship in the Shot Put and Discus. He closed out his McClancy career garnering the gold medal in the Discus in his senior year.

Following McClancy H.S., Joseph entered Queens College. He took up the Hammer Throw in Field Events at Queens College. He competed in four N.C.A.A. Championships. In his senior year, he was selected to the 1983 N.C.A.A. All-American Track and Field Team.

Joe graduated Queens College with a degree in Physical Education. he has continued to compete in many national and international meets.

Joe lives in East Meadow, Long Island with his wife, Bobbee and his two children, Michael and Kristine.

Joseph is a Criminal Investigator with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms.
