James Marcel Cartier, a 26-year-old Local 3 Union electrician, graduated from Monsignor McClancy in 1994.  Famous for his deep-dimples and warm smile, James was loved dearly by everyone who knew him.

With James, it was quite common for neighborhood store owners, teachers, clergy and fellow parishioners to share wonderful stories of how he either made them laugh, helped them with a flat tire or offered to chat about the good things in life.  He lived in Astoria, Queens near his parents home in Jackson Heights.

One of seven children, James was well known for his happy disposition, beautiful humor, love of life, family and friends.

He was assigned to a job at the World Trade Center just two weeks before the September 11th attack.  True to James’s way of always putting those he loved first, he managed to place a call to his brother, John, that saved the life of his sister.  In his last words, James asked to relay a message to his parents and all his friends that “James said to say I love you“.

James was a gift –God’s gift to us all and truly made the world a better place.
His family is dedicated to forever preserving his loving memory.

Tributes to James are greatly appreciated and can be placed on his web site at

We love you James.
