Edward McGlone ‘76

Edward McGlone class of 1976, passed away on July 11, 2017, after a long illness and after 30 years of service at Monsignor McClancy Memorial High School.

Edward was from St. Joseph’s in Astoria. As a student at McClancy, Ed was a four-year member of the basketball teams. After graduating from McClancy he attended Thomas College in Maine where he played Division III basketball.

Ed returned to McClancy in 1987 as a teacher and coach. Over the years, he taught many classes including United States Government, Economics, Sociology, Business Management and Global Studies.

Ed’s JV Basketball Team went on to capture the CHSAA City Championship in both 1992 and 1993. His Varsity Soccer Team won the CHSAA City Championship in 1992.

During Ed’s 11 years in his Office of Advancement role, Ed was the Associate Director and then Director of Advancement. He was a key player in the development of the Annual President’s Dinner and first ever school’s capital campaign.

Ed was the youngest of four with three older sisters. He had his first and only child, Edward Jr., in 1989 and was a beloved father and uncle to his many nieces and nephews.
