Bob Lowenberg coached McClancy baseball for 19 years, compiling a record of 232 wins and 149 losses for a .608 winning percentage. His teams’ playoff record is equally impressive, 37 wins and 24 losses (.606 winning percentage).
Bob’s teams made the playoffs fourteen straight years (1987-2000) with two Diocesan titles (1992 and 1993). Eight times, McClancy advanced to the semi-finals recording two City Championships (1991 and 1993) and one second place finish (1992) under Lowenberg.
Many of Bob’s players were awarded college scholarships and went on to play professional ball. Coach Lowenberg was named Coach of the Tear by the Daily News in 1989, 1991, 1992, and 1993, the Tablet in 1989 and 1993, Newsday in 1991 and 1993, and the New York Post in 1991.
Bob Lowenberg is presently the Principal of St. Dominic’s High School on Long Island and recently received a proclamation from the NYC Council for his 25 years of service in education.
