Bill Kelly ’87

Field Events

Bill Kelly was born and raised in Richmond Hills, Queens. One of six boys, Bill followed in the footsteps of his five older brothers and became involved in track and field. While at McClancy, Bill won numerous individual city championships, also helping his team to win titles.

Initially, Bill attended Iona College and then continued his studies at St. John’s University. While at Iona, he not only participated in track and field, but he also played rugby. He played for the East Coast Rugby team which went on to win a national championship.

After graduation, Bill spent six years in England working as a bond broker, and he found rugby teams to play for too. Both the London Harlequins and the Esher Rugby Club were fortunate to have Bill at their disposal.

Bill has now returned to New York and is pursuing a career as a general contractor. Rugby is still part of his life, as he is a member of the Rugby Select Side.

Bill married his wife Robyn in May 2001.
