Anthony Iapoce comes out of McClancy’s own backyard – St. Joseph’s Parish in Astoria, where he was an elementary school star athlete. As a twelve year old, he was named to the NYC Friendship Team in Baseball to compete in Japan.

At McClancy, Anthony led his baseball and basketball teams to four City Championships over his high school career – a McClancy Record. He won five different MVP awards for seasons and tournaments. He also won a prestigious “Mr. Hustle Award” in San Diego at the “Above the Rim” Basketball Tournament in 1990.

In his senior year, Anthony was awarded All-City honors in both baseball and basketball. He was also the recipient of the Senior Student Athlete Award in 1991. He accepted a baseball scholarship to Lamar University in Texas. In his Junior year, he signed a baseball contract with the Milwaukee Brewers and played in their minor league system for a number of years.
