2023 McClancy Leadership Award Recipient, George Medlin ‘70

George Medlin graduated from Monsignor McClancy Memorial High School in 1970. He attended Queens College, and for over 45 years held various positions in the financial services industry. He worked at New York Life Insurance Company and Citibank – North America Investment Bank as an Audit Manager, and at Chase Manhattan Bank as Vice President. Prior to his retirement, for 31 years, he worked for Mutual of America where he served as the Executive Vice President and Internal Auditor, Executive Vice President and Treasurer, and Executive Vice President and Chief Risk Officer. He was also the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Mutual of America Investment Corporation and Mutual of America Institutional Funds. He is a Certified Internal Auditor and a Certified Information System Auditor.

George served on the Board of Directors as Board Treasurer of the Nassau County Coalition Against Domestic Violence and its successor organization, the Safe Center of Long Island, for 25 years; organizations that provide counseling and legal representation for victims of domestic violence and rape, and a safe shelter for victims of domestic violence to escape from life threatening situations and start a new life. He is the Chairman of the Board of Monsignor McClancy Memorial High School.

George has been married to his wife Barbara for 46 years, who is a registered nurse and worked at St. Francis Hospital in the emergency room until her retirement. They are the proud parents of George and Kyle, whom they raised in Rockville Centre and grandparents to George, Mia, Abigail, and Zoe.
